Uganda’s Kenneth Ssemakula seals move to Kuwait’s Al-Arabi Sporting Club

Ugandan international defender Kenneth Ssemakula has officially joined Al-Arabi Sporting Club, a top-flight side in the Kuwaiti Premier League. The move comes after a standout season with Tunisian giants Club Africain.

The 23-year-old centre-back impressed in Tunisia following his arrival last season, quickly earning praise for his composure, versatility, and leadership at the back. His consistent performances caught the attention of Al-Arabi SC, one of Kuwait’s most decorated football clubs. While the transfer fee and contract terms have not been disclosed, both clubs are reportedly pleased with the deal.

Rising star of Ugandan Football

Ssemakula’s journey began at Uganda’s Busoga United before he made a move to BUL FC. However, it was at SC Villa where he truly came into his own. As club captain, he led the legendary Kampala-based side to their record-extending 17th Ugandan Premier League title in the 2023/24 season. Fans still recall his iconic last-minute winning goal against URA FC — a moment that secured the championship and etched his name into Villa folklore.

Primarily deployed as a centre-back, Ssemakula’s tactical intelligence allows him to also excel at right-back and in central midfield. His adaptability and work ethic make him a valuable asset in any squad setup.

A cranes regular

A dependable figure in the national setup, Ssemakula has earned over 25 caps with the Uganda Cranes. He has risen through the ranks, having represented the country at all youth levels before becoming a senior team regular.

His move to the Middle East marks another significant step in his blossoming career and reflects the growing international recognition of Ugandan talent.
