Abbey Kikomeko head coach BUL FC
Jinja, Uganda — Despite the cloud of a long-term FUFA disciplinary ban looming over the local football scene, Uganda Premier League side BUL FC has moved decisively to put any coaching uncertainty to rest.
On Monday, July 14, 2025, the Jinja-based club owned by BIDCO Uganda officially confirmed the contract extension of head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko for another two years, securing his stay with the Eastern Giants until 2027.
In a statement released via their official website, the club declared: “BUL FC is delighted to announce that head coach Bogere Abbey has signed a new two-year contract.”
Steady leadership and proven Success
Kikomeko initially took over the reins at the beginning of the 2023/24 campaign, replacing interim boss Simon Massa. Since then, he has become a central figure in BUL’s continued rise in Ugandan football.
Under his guidance, BUL FC clinched back-to-back FUFA Super 8 titles in 2023 and 2024 and delivered a stellar league performance in his debut season, finishing just one point behind the eventual champions. In the recently concluded 2024/25 campaign, the club maintained its status as a top contender, securing a respectable third-place finish.
Focused on the top prize
Speaking after putting pen to paper, a visibly motivated Kikomeko outlined his ambition with trademark clarity:
“I am excited to be signing another two-year contract with BUL FC. I promise to continue working hard to fulfill my dream of winning the Uganda Premier League title for this great club.”
That dream remains tantalizingly close. With consistent top-three finishes and strong cup form, Kikomeko has laid a solid foundation. The next step lifting BUL’s first-ever UPL title now becomes the primary focus as the team prepares for the 2025/26 campaign.
A statement of intent
For a club navigating the complex challenges of domestic football, including ongoing federation disciplinary issues, BUL FC’s move to retain Kikomeko signals clear intent. Stability, ambition, and trust in a proven leader are at the heart of their strategy.
As the Eastern Giants continue their pursuit of history, Coach Kikomeko’s extended stay offers fans a familiar face on the touchline and renewed hope that silverware might soon follow.
