The opening day of the EMC Rally saw drivers push their machines to the limit as they battled for top positions in the fourth round of the national rally championship.
Flagged off at the Source of the Nile, the event set the stage for intense competition among top contenders.
Notably, Hajji Salim Gasemba long known for competing in two-wheel drive has made a bold switch to a more powerful Subaru N12.
The Iganga-based driver revealed that fan demand influenced his decision to unleash this “mysterious beast” for the remainder of the season.
“It was time for an upgrade, and the fans wanted to see something new,” said Hajji Salim Gasemba.
Another surprise entrant is Denis Bahizi. The Kaynela-sponsored driver has traded in his Subaru GC8 for an upgraded Subaru N12.
Competing in the CRC category, Bahizi is a known party spoiler, feared for his aggressive driving style.
This year’s competition features a strong lineup, including Robert Sentongo, Walter Kibande, Kevin Bebeto, and Hajji Kateete all vying for dominance.
The two-day event will cover a total distance of 154 km, traversing Jinja and Kayunga districts.
A night section makes a return after many years, adding an extra layer of challenge for the drivers.
With high-speed action and technical stages ahead, the battle for supremacy promises to be nothing short of thrilling.
