Fire destroys vehicles and equipment in Ntinda workshop

Kampala, Uganda – A fire broke out on Monday morning, 8th September 2025, at a motor vehicle seat fabrication workshop and washing bay near Ntinda Complex, a Kampala suburb.

According to police, five vehicles were burnt beyond repair, while two others were partially damaged. Several machines inside the workshop were also destroyed in the blaze.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, said the Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services responded quickly and managed to extinguish the fire with support from Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) engineers.

The area around Ntinda Complex is a busy commercial hub, and police said quick intervention helped prevent the fire from spreading to nearby businesses. No injuries or fatalities were reported in the incident.

The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, though authorities noted that workshops and garages often face risks related to fuel, oil, and welding activities. Police urged workshop owners to strengthen fire safety measures to minimize future incidents.
