Volleyball Titans set for epic clash as NSSF KAVC international returns for 27th Edition

The stage is set for a monumental showdown as the NSSF KAVC International Volleyball Tournament announces its 27th edition, scheduled for September 12th to 14th, 2025. The prestigious event will transform the Lugogo Indoor Stadium and Hockey National Grounds into a hub of elite athletic competition, drawing top teams from across the continent.

Organized by the Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club (KAVC) in partnership with the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), this tournament has grown from its 1995 inception into one of East Africa’s most anticipated sporting spectacles.

All eyes will be on the reigning champions, Rwanda Energy Group (men) and Rwanda Revenue Authority (women), as they return to Uganda to defend their titles against a fierce field of contenders. They are expected to face stiff competition from regional powerhouses including Rwanda Patriotic Army (APR), Rwanda National Police, and a strong contingent of Ugandan clubs such as KAVC, KCCA, and Sport-S.

The 2025 edition introduces exciting new features, including a Corporate/Veteran Team Championship, broadening participation beyond elite clubs. In a significant upgrade for sponsors and viewers, the games will feature live-streamed advertisements, enhancing the digital experience for a global audience.

The tournament will see participation from teams across Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, South Sudan, and Ghana, promising a truly international festival of volleyball.

NSSF, the title sponsor for an impressive 16 years, leads a coalition of partners including Crown Beverages (Pepsi), the Uganda Olympic Committee, and the Ministry of Health. The event is guided by a dedicated Local Organizing Committee, chaired by Olive Ekalom, which is managing all aspects from sponsorship to security.

Under the theme “Championing better community health and behaviour through sports,” the tournament reaffirms its commitment to leveraging sports as a powerful tool for unity and public health advocacy.
