Samuel Watendwa: The 2WD champion hunting for a 4WD upgrade

Known for his entertaining and aggressive driving style, Samuel Watendwa is a racer who never disappoints and never gives up. A mainstay in the 2WD category, his determination has made him both a fan favorite and a formidable competitor on the track.

A proven champion

Watendwa’s talent is backed by results. Racing in the 2WD category, he clinched the championship title in 2019, cementing his status as one of the best in his class.

The hunt for a new challenge

Now, the former champion has set his sights on a new goal: moving up to the 4WD category. Watendwa believes the upgrade will give him the competitive edge to challenge the very best.

His ambition officially kicks off with a fundraising event on September 21st, aimed at acquiring a Subaru N14. The event has already been nicknamed “akapande wakasomye.”

A call to the motorsport family

Explaining his motivation, Watendwa said:

“I have been competing in the two-wheel drive category for 15 years, and I believe now is the time to switch to a four-wheel drive car. I cannot do this alone without my family and that’s the motorsport family.”

This upgrade will not only test his skills but also introduce him to a more challenging and technical class of racing.

A legacy of competition

Raised in Bwaise, Watendwa is remembered for his fierce battles with three-time champion Ibrahim Lubega Pasuwa in the 2000s, a thrilling era when both drivers raced Toyota FXs.

He has already shown his potential in a 4WD machine. At Busiika, when given the chance to drive a Subaru N12 owned by the Big Bang Racing Team, he delivered a spectacular performance, proving his adaptability and skill.
