Yasin Nasser maintains ARC lead with strong second-place finish in Burundi

Yasin Nasser and co-driver Ali Katumba delivered another stellar performance at the Burundi Rally, securing second place in their Ford Fiesta MKRally2 (NEMO). The Ugandan duo clocked a total time of 01:54:49.1, finishing 10 minutes and 27.7 seconds behind Kenyan rally ace Samman Vohra.
Despite trailing Vohra by over 10 minutes, Nasser’s consistency has solidified his position at the top of the African Rally Championship (ARC) standings. Championship Standings After Burundi Round
Nasser’s podium finish extends his lead in the ARC title race, with just one round remaining in Tanzania. The current standings are:
1. Yasin Nasser (Uganda) – 118 points
2. Samman Vohra (Kenya) – 106 points
3. Nikhil Sachania (Kenya) – 77 points
4. Carl Tundo (Kenya) – 50 points
5. Prince Charles Nyerere (Tanzania) – 46 points
A step closer to history
With a 12-point lead over Vohra, Nasser is now in prime position to become the first Ugandan to win the ARC since Charles Muhangi in 1999. The final round in Tanzania will be decisive—if Nasser secures another strong finish, he could end Uganda’s 26-year wait for continental rally glory.
The Tanzania showdown
All eyes will now shift to the season finale, where Nasser will face stiff competition from Vohra and Tanzanian challengers, including Prince Charles Nyerere. However, with his proven consistency and tactical brilliance, the Ugandan star remains the favorite to clinch the title.
