Veteran striker Emmanuel Okwi joins Rwanda’s Police FC

Rwanda Premier League side Police FC has secured the signing of experienced Ugandan striker Emmanuel Okwi ahead of the 2025/26 season. The 33-year-old joins Police FC after his one-year contract with AS Kigali expired. Okwi’s impressive form with Kigali, where he was the top scorer with nine league goals, likely influenced the decision.

Although he narrowly missed the Golden Boot award, his performance earned him a nomination for the league’s Best Player of the Season.

Okwi, a former Uganda Cranes captain, retired from international football in March 2025 but remains a potent force at the club level.

With experience playing for various clubs across multiple continents, including Kiyovu SC, SC Villa, Simba SC, Young Africans, Étoile du Sahel, Ittihad Alexandria, SønderjyskE, and Al-Zawraa, Okwi brings a wealth of knowledge and goalscoring ability to Police FC. The club expects his leadership and proven record to significantly enhance their attacking options in the new season.”
