Uganda promotes tourism at Moscow international travel exhibition

Moscow, Russia Uganda attracted strong interest from visitors and travel companies during the Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (MITT), where the country promoted its tourism offerings to the Russian market.

The Ugandan stand drew significant attention from prospective tourists, tour operators and travel agencies attending the event.

On the third day of the exhibition, staff from Uganda’s embassy in Moscow and participating tour operators showcased the country’s cultural heritage by wearing traditional attire, including the kanzu, busuuti, gomesi and traditional clothing worn by Karamojong men. The display highlighted Uganda’s diverse cultural traditions and attracted visitors interested in authentic cultural tourism experiences.

Alongside the exhibition, the embassy, led by Head of Mission H.E. Moses K. Kizige, organized a business-to-business (B2B) workshop bringing together 32 Ugandan tour operators and more than 100 Russian tour companies. The event provided an opportunity for networking and discussions on potential tourism partnerships.

According to feedback from participants, Ugandan tour operators secured more than 50 preliminary tour bookings from Russian travelers and tour companies during the engagements.

Officials say the response reflects growing interest from the Russian market in Uganda’s tourism attractions, including its wildlife, landscapes and cultural heritage.

The embassy said it will continue working with the private sector to promote Uganda internationally and strengthen tourism cooperation between Uganda and Russia.
