UGANDA CRANES WRAP UP DAY THREE OF TRAINING AT LUZIRA; OBITA EYES HISTORIC IMPACT

LUZIRA, UGANDA – The Uganda Cranes continued their preparations for the upcoming Total Energies CHAN 2024 tournament with a morning training session at Luzira Prisons Ground today.
The 41-man provisional squad, composed entirely of locally-based players, underwent drills and tactical exercises under the watchful eyes of the technical staff.
This session marked the third consecutive day of intensive training as the team gears up for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, scheduled to take place in Kenya later this year.
Among the players in camp is new recruit Jordan Obita. The British-Ugandan left-back/winger recently concluded a near-decade-long spell with English Championship side Reading FC.
Born in Oxford 25 years ago to Ugandan parents, Obita made his Cranes debut in a 3-0 friendly loss to Cameroon in Morocco.
Obita expressed his excitement about the national team call-up and outlined his ambitious goals:
“I want to help make history. We want to do well in AFCON and, most importantly, qualify for the World Cup in America next year.”
The choice of Luzira Prisons Ground offers a focused environment for the team’s initial camp phase. Today’s session emphasized building fitness, fostering team cohesion, and implementing the coach’s tactical strategies ahead of the crucial continental championship, which is reserved for players competing in their respective national leagues.
The team is expected to continue its training regimen in the coming days as the technical staff evaluates the squad before finalizing the list for the CHAN tournament.
