Kampala, Uganda – Police in Kabalagala are investigating a suspected case of negligence following a powerful explosion that rocked the sauna section of Buziga Country Resort on Saturday evening. The blast, which occurred at approximately 8:30 PM on August 24, left three women seriously injured and caused significant structural damage to the facility.

The victims have been identified as 69-year-old Hajjat Masitula, the Vice Chairperson of Katuso Cell LC I, who suffered severe burns on her back, chest, and lower body; 39-year-old Zahara Nakawesi Kasenene, who sustained burns and a broken left leg; and Mamaram Aisha, who received multiple burns across her body.

All three women were initially rushed to Kiruddu Hospital for emergency care. Due to the severity of their injuries, two were later referred to Nsambya and Mulago Hospitals for specialized treatment. Their current conditions remain closely monitored by medical staff.

According to police, officers responded promptly to the scene after receiving the report. Detectives and a Scene of Crime Officer documented the aftermath, describing extensive damage to the sauna area. Part of the structure had collapsed, walls bore visible cracks, and debris including broken glass and blood stains was scattered across the scene.

While preliminary findings confirm the explosion was substantial, the exact cause has not yet been determined. Witness statements, including those from the victims, have been recorded as part of the ongoing investigation. Forensic teams have cordoned off the area to conduct further analysis.

As of now, no arrests have been made. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, with updates to follow as more details become available.
