Ssegaabwe faces crucibles, EMC rally promises decisive showdown

Musa Ssegaabwe, Uganda’s rising motorsport sensation, is sharpening his focus ahead of this weekend’s high-octane Jinja-Kayunga Rally, an event widely seen as a potential turning point in the 2025 National Rally Championship (NRC) season.

As the countdown intensifies for this weekend’s much-anticipated Jinja-Kayunga Rally, adrenaline is already surging through the motorsport community.

The fifth round of the National Rally Championship (NRC) calendar promises more than just speed; it’s shaping up to be a decisive chapter in this year’s title race.

Among the fierce contenders revving up for the challenge is Musa Ssegaabwe, the breakout star of the 2025 season. Fresh off clinching the Clubman Rally Championship (CRC) title, he is not just here to participate but rather gunning for a podium finish in what could be a career-defining event.

“Together with my navigator Mathius Kiyega, we’ve promised reasonable fireworks during the event,” Ssegaabwe told Lucid News Africa, exuding quiet confidence. “Sitting second behind Sebuguzi brings significant pressure, but I promise my fans we’ll contain the moment through composure.”

The Jinja-Kayunga Rally is a two-day test of nerves, skill, and machine endurance across 154.46 kilometers of unforgiving terrain. Five high-speed stages wind through Kayunga’s rugged heartland, each one demanding absolute focus under championship pressure. The rally has earned a reputation as a career-maker or breaker.

But Ssegaabwe isn’t just preparing behind the wheel. Ahead of the event, his Segamu14 fan base and company joined hands with the Eastern Motor Club organizing committee to lead a tree-planting campaign.

The initiative, which began during Ssegaabwe’s rise to NRC status in Masaka, has now become a meaningful tradition merging motorsport passion with environmental stewardship.

“We love this sport, and we want to make sure we also give back to the communities and the land that hosts us,” Ssegaabwe added.

At the front of the grid, veteran Ronald Sebuguzi remains the man to beat, while Duncan “Kikankane” Lwakataka looms with his signature tactical brilliance. But Ssegaabwe’s raw speed, humility, and calculated aggression could upset the balance.

Sebuguzi’s resolve. Ssegaabwe’s velocity. Lwakataka’s tactics. Kayunga will decide.

As engines roar to life and dust clouds rise, one thing is certain: this rally won’t be won by chance. It will demand courage, strategy, and an iron grip on chaos. Only the strongest will emerge—scorched, exhausted, but victorious.
