Senegal names 28-man squad for pre-tournament training camp

Senegal has unveiled a 28-player squad as part of its continued preparations for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will take place from August 2 to 30 across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The reigning CHAN titleholders will gather for a training camp from June 30 to July 11 at the Jules François Bocandé Technical Centre in Toubab Dialaw.
The squad, composed entirely of locally-based players, reflects Coach Souleymane Diallo’s ongoing strategy of building a competitive and cohesive unit ahead of the continental competition. With the majority of call-ups drawn from those already under regular observation by the technical staff, the selection focuses on high-performing players from Senegal’s domestic league.
The camp is designed to assess form, improve tactical coordination, and solidify team chemistry ahead of the tournament.
Senegal has been placed in Group B for this year’s edition of CHAN and will face Sudan, Congo, and Nigeria in the group stage. The team is set to be based in Zanzibar during the tournament, where all their group fixtures will be held.
Coach Souleymane Diallo and his staff are placing emphasis on continuity, with many of the selected players having featured prominently in the national team’s recent matches or domestic competition.
The camp in Toubab Dialaw will be crucial in finalizing the tactical setup and overall squad that will represent the nation in East Africa. This preparatory phase comes at a critical time as Senegal looks to defend its CHAN crown, having won the previous edition of the tournament reserved exclusively for players competing in their respective national leagues.
The competition has historically served as a platform for emerging talent across the continent to gain valuable international experience and exposure.
The full list of 28 players called up is expected to be released shortly by the Senegalese Football Federation, providing fans and analysts a clearer view of the coach’s vision for the upcoming campaign.
As the countdown to CHAN 2025 continues, Senegal’s focus remains firmly on readiness, consistency, and the ambition to replicate its past success. With a training camp now imminent, the reigning champions are taking decisive steps toward what promises to be another competitive chapter in their continental journey.
