Security on high alert at Mandela stadium for Double-Header

As the Confederation of African Football (CAF) qualifiers continue, the Uganda Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining tight security at Mandela National Stadium ahead of two key fixtures scheduled for Friday, August 8.
This follows a successful initial round of matches at the stadium, where police say their security team effectively ensured order and safety. A subsequent review meeting held in conjunction with the Local Organizing Committee and CAF representatives has led to the enhancement of existing security protocols.
On Friday, football fans can look forward to a thrilling double-header: Algeria will face South Africa at 5:00 PM, followed by a home clash between Uganda and Guinea at 8:00 PM. Anticipating large crowds and heightened excitement, the Uganda Police Force has outlined a list of prohibited items and reinforced safety measures to ensure a smooth experience for all attendees.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to all spectators for their cooperation during the earlier matches,” read a statement from Police Headquarters in Naguru.
“The general public observed commendable discipline, and only a few attempted breaches were swiftly handled.”
To safeguard fans, players, and officials, the following items will not be permitted inside the stadium:

Large bags and suitcases

Tools (e.g., hammers)

Authorities have urged the public to strictly adhere to these guidelines, emphasizing that the measures are in place for everyone’s safety.
