President Museveni pledges Shs1.2 Billion per win for Uganda Cranes ahead of CHAN Opener

As the Uganda Cranes prepare to kick off their 2024 CHAN campaign tonight, President Yoweri Museveni has pledged a reward of Shs1.2 billion for every match the team wins during the tournament. The announcement was delivered earlier today by Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, who was delegated by the President to convey his message to the players.
Speaking to journalists, Among expressed hope and patriotism:
“We pray to make Uganda proud today, and that is our prayer; that as patriots in this country, we should always strive to make our nation proud.”
She revealed that following a visit to the team this morning, she briefed President Museveni, who is driven by his love for sports and support for the players made the generous financial commitment.
“The President has committed Shs1.2 billion per win. Not overall, per win. Every time the team wins, that amount will be rewarded,” Among emphasized.
She extended her gratitude to the President for his dedication to youth, sports, and national pride.
“I want to thank the President of the Republic of Uganda for loving our children, for loving Uganda, and for his strong passion for sports.”
