Non-Unionized workers’ elections pushed to August, EC confirms

The Electoral Commission (EC) has rescheduled the much-anticipated elections for non-unionized workers, moving the date from July 11, 2025, to August 5, 2025.

The adjustment comes after a request from the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, which is tasked with registering and convening non-unionized workers for the exercise. The EC will then oversee and manage the elections at Sub-county and District levels, in line with the Parliamentary Elections Act, Cap. 177.

In an internal communication, the Acting Secretary of the EC noted that the shift is meant to allow better coordination and preparation for the Sub-county/Town Council/Division conferences where the polls will be conducted.

The elections are expected to attract thousands of workers across the country, offering them a chance to choose delegates who will represent their interests in national platforms.

The EC has urged all stakeholders and eligible participants to take note of the new date and prepare for the polls.
