National Rally Championship heats up as round 5 revs for Fort Portal & Kyenjojo

The battle for the National Rally Championship (NRC) title is intensifying as competitors head to Fort Portal and Kyenjojo districts for the crucial fifth round, scheduled to run from August 22nd to 24th, 2024.

An official launch event will kick off proceedings on August 12th at Supremacy Lounge. Drivers will tackle a demanding total route of 265.3 km, featuring 137.07 km of pure competitive special stages, while the remaining 127.6 km consists of liaison sections transporting crews between stages.

With the top three overall crews separated by less than 20 points, every second will count.

Scheduled for Friday, August 22nd to 24th, the event will kick off with vehicle checks during the day. The ceremonial start will ignite the competitive spirit later that evening at the Kalya Courts Hotel.

Here’s the event schedule:
– Saturday, August 23rd (Day 1): Action gets underway (note: no Friday stages). Crews will face:
– The Henry Maseruka Stage (17.3 km), demanding precision at high speeds.
– The challenging Worldwide Movers Stage (15.74 km).
– The day culminates with the exciting Super Special Stage in Kyenjojo town, featuring head-to-head battles on a new double track circuit.
– The final day begins with:
– The scenic Mukwano Karmali Stage (15.21 km), winding through tea plantations.
– The demanding Mpanga Stage (15.21 km).
– The final day on Sunday begins with the Harugongo Stage (12.82 km), offering spectators a perfect vantage point as it concludes behind the Kyakaigo Race Track.
