Nandor Love’s home and studio burglarized during Qatar concert
Ugandan fast-rising singer, songwriter, and poet Nandor Love, whose real name is Nantume Dorcus Tendo, is reeling after a shocking burglary at her home and music studio, where thieves made off with property worth millions. The incident occurred while she and her team were away in Qatar for a two-day concert.
Nandor Love, born on November 25, 2002, in Kampala, has quickly become one of Uganda’s most promising young talents. Known for her dynamic blend of reggae, dancehall, and Afrobeat, she first broke onto the scene with hits like “Baby Wa Boo” and “Nyama Choma.” Her popularity surged further with songs such as “Mpologoma” and “Kinawolovu,” the latter becoming one of Uganda’s most-watched songs in 2024.
Signed to Redzone Government, a label operating in both Uganda and Denmark, Nandor Love has earned praise for writing and composing much of her own music. She has often noted that her songwriting ability helps her avoid the exploitation that many emerging female artists face in the industry. Her distinctive sound, shaped by Ugandan roots and global influences, has broadened her appeal across East Africa.
But her career momentum was dealt a blow when she returned from her Qatar shows to find her home and studio ransacked. In a video she recorded and circulated widely on social media, the visibly distressed artist revealed that burglars destroyed property and stole all her studio musical instruments/equipment.
Fans and fellow musicians have flooded her platforms with messages of sympathy and support, expressing shock at the attack and urging authorities to bring the culprits to justice. Despite the loss, Nandor Love has vowed to recover and continue her artistic journey. She assured supporters that she will bounce back stronger and remain committed to her craft.
The incident highlights the ongoing challenges entertainers face in protecting their creative spaces, even as they work tirelessly to elevate Uganda’s presence on the global music stage.
