Mauritania coach Aritz Lopez Garay names 25-man squad for CHAN 2024-25

Nouakchott, Mauritania — Mauritania’s head coach, Aritz Lopez Garay, has officially named his 25-man squad for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024), scheduled to run from 2–30 August 2025 across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
The Spanish tactician, who took the reins earlier this year, has opted for a balanced mix of youth and experience, all drawn exclusively from the Mauritanian domestic league. His selection reflects both confidence in local talent and a commitment to strengthening the national football pipeline.
Final Preparations in Nouakchott
The Mourabitounes will hold a week-long training camp in Nouakchott from 9 to 15 July as final preparations intensify. Mauritania has been placed in Group B, alongside Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Madagascar, and tournament co-hosts Tanzania.
Their opening clash against Tanzania is expected to be a key moment; one that could define their momentum for the rest of the tournament.
