Ponsiano Lwakataka crosses paths at the EMC rally in Kayunga and Jinja
Kayunga/Jinja, Uganda – Subaru N12 ace Ponsiano Lwakataka delivered a commanding performance at the EMC Rally, conquering the challenging terrains of Kayunga and Jinja to clinch a decisive victory. From the opening stage, Lwakataka set a relentless pace, outpacing his top rivals including Musa Sseggabwe and Ronald Sebuguzi.
Lwakataka’s toughest challenge came from Hassan Alwi, who impressed in his debut outing with a Ford Fiesta Proto. The International University of East Africa principal, having recently transitioned from a Subaru N14, adapted quickly to his new machine and secured a solid second-place finish.
Ronald Sebuguzi also piloted a Ford Fiesta Proto to third place, rounding out a fiercely contested podium.
Championship hopeful Musa Sseggabwe saw his rally unravel on Day Two after his Mitsubishi Evo 9 veered off-road, costing him critical time. Despite missing the podium, Sseggabwe remains firmly in the title chase, currently sitting third in the overall standings.
With three rounds remaining, including the next showdown in Fort Portal (August 22–24), the championship race remains wide open.
In the Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) category, Samuel Watendwa emerged victorious, with Julius Semambo finishing second and Ibrahim Lubega Pasuwa securing third place. Meanwhile, in the Clubman Rally Championship (CRC) class, Kevin Bebeto claimed his first win of the season, followed by Odeon Tumwebaze in second and Ahmed Kateete in third.
The national rally scene now turns to Fort Portal, where title hopefuls will resume their hunt for championship glory in what promises to be another thrilling weekend of motorsport action.
