Liverpool have agreed a British transfer record £125m deal to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, with the total package potentially rising to £130m including add-ons.
The Sweden international is undergoing a medical on Monday before putting pen to paper on a six-year contract at Anfield. Sources close to both clubs confirmed the agreement, ending one of the transfer window’s longest-running sagas.
Liverpool had a £110m bid rejected in August but have finally secured their top summer target. The move comes just days after Newcastle signed striker Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart to bolster their forward line.
The 25-year-old’s arrival continues Liverpool’s unprecedented summer spending spree. The club had already broken their transfer record by signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in a £100m deal plus £16m in add-ons.
With further signings including Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi, and Giovanni Leoni, Liverpool’s outlay now stands at around £416.2m (excluding add-ons) — the highest single-window spend in Premier League history.
