Jane Asinde completes move to Spanish club Azulmarino

Uganda Gazelles captain Jane Asinde has officially completed her move to CB Azulmarino, putting an end to recent speculation about her next destination. The Spanish club competes in the Liga Femenina Challenge, the third tier of women’s basketball in Spain.
This transfer follows Asinde’s confirmed departure from Ensino Lugo, which plays in the top-tier Liga Femenina Endesa. Although she is stepping down a division, the move signals a fresh start—and a meaningful reunion.
Asinde will once again work under Coach Alberto Antuna, who previously led the Ugandan national team during the last AfroBasket tournament. Their partnership was widely praised for its synergy, and both are eager to rekindle that success.
Coach Antuna welcomed the signing with high praise.
“Jane is a complete player,” he said. “She brings physicality, energy, and versatility. She can play both as a three [small forward] and four [power forward]. I’m very happy to work with her again after our time with the Ugandan national team.”
Asinde’s transfer brings leadership and experience to Azulmarino, and fans are hopeful she will be a key piece in the team’s ambitions this season.
