Elio Capradossi joins Romanian Side FC Universitatea Cluj

Uganda Cranes defender Elio Capradossi has completed a move to Romanian top-flight club FC Universitatea Cluj, marking a fresh chapter in a career that has taken him through the ranks of Italian football.

Born in Uganda and raised in Italy, Capradossi developed his game in the youth academy of AS Roma, where he quickly made a name for himself. After debuting for Roma’s U19 team in the 2012–2013 season, he became a standout performer, eventually captaining the Primavera squad to the 2015–2016 youth championship title with a memorable win over Juventus.

Since then, he’s built a solid professional career. Although he made only a handful of appearances in Serie A, Capradossi became a reliable presence in Serie B, playing over 150 matches and contributing both defensively and occasionally to the scoresheet.

His journey has taken him through several clubs — including Bari, Spezia, SPAL, Cagliari, Lecco, and most recently, Cittadella — where he established a reputation for consistency, leadership, and calm under pressure.

Now 29 and standing at 1.85 meters, Capradossi brings a strong presence to Cluj’s backline. As they prepare for the upcoming season, his experience at both club and international levels will be a valuable asset for the Romanian side.

For Uganda Cranes fans, this move offers a new platform to watch one of their stars make waves in a different European league — and possibly solidify his role in future national team campaigns.
