Dax Vibez, Mikie Wine in violent clash

What was meant to be a night of music, unity, and celebration in Jinja City turned into a chaotic and controversial scene involving two of Uganda’s popular musical brothers, Dax Vibez and Mikie Wine.

The drama unfolded in the early hours of Monday, July 7, shortly after the much-anticipated Ekitudha 2025 concert, a flagship annual event organized by Baba Media Group.

Held at the iconic Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe, the show pulled a massive crowd, featuring a blend of top-tier talent from across the country and a vibrant lineup of Busoga-based comedians and artists.

After thrilling performances by Mikie Wine and Dax Vibez, the duo reportedly embarked on a return journey to Kampala. But the night took an unexpected turn when they stopped at Shell Ambercourt in Jinja City.

It was here that an argument reportedly broke out between members of Mikie Wine’s team and a resident identified as Ibrahim Hussein.

In a bid to de-escalate the tension, both parties agreed to take the matter to Jinja Central Police Station (CPS) for mediation.

According to SP James Mubi, the Kiira Region Police spokesperson, officers at CPS made efforts to reconcile the two parties. Hussein went on to file a case of assault against Mikie Wine, while Mikie Wine accused Hussein of malicious property damage, allegedly targeting their vehicle.

Both Mikie Wine and Hussein were later released on police bond after recording their statements.

However, just when things seemed to be cooling down, tempers reportedly flared once again, this time inside the police station itself.

In a shocking twist, Dax Vibez allegedly physically assaulted Ibrahim Hussein in full view of law enforcement officers, prompting a fresh charge of assault against the singer.

“He was immediately detained at Jinja CPS, and a separate file has been opened,” SP Mubi confirmed to journalists. “Investigations are ongoing, and we are working closely with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to determine the next steps.”

Police are now reviewing CCTV footage from both the police station and the Shell Ambercourt petrol station to establish the full facts of the incident.

SP Mubi also used the occasion to urge artists and the general public to exercise restraint and promote peace.

“We encourage all parties to treat one another with dignity and respect. Incidents like this damage the spirit of togetherness that events like Ekitudha are meant to foster.”

As fans continue to buzz about the unforgettable performances from the weekend, many are now equally gripped by the unfolding legal drama.

For now, Dax Vibez remains in custody as investigations continue, while Mikie Wine returns to Kampala under the cloud of an ongoing police inquiry.
